On Your Computer - Turning Off Closed Captions (CC) in Zoom
We understand that not everyone uses the Closed Captions feature. This article provides instructions on how to turn off Closed Captions (CC) during a Zoom session on your computer if they’re on. Please note that these instructions are specific to the desktop version of Zoom and may differ from the mobile device Zoom application.
Turning off Closed Captions will only affect the current meeting, and you will need to repeat these steps for each subsequent meeting or webinar you join.
Steps to Turn off CCs
Open Zoom and Join the Session:
Launch the Zoom app on your mobile device and join the meeting or webinar you wish to participate in.
Access Meeting Controls:
Once you are in the session, locate the meeting controls (typically found at the bottom of your Zoom window).
Locate the CC/Captions button:
While in a Zoom meeting, find the CC/Captions button located on the Zoom toolbar at the bottom of your Zoom window.
You’ll see an icon with "CC" and/or "Show captions."
Click the CC/Hide Captions button:
Once you've located the button, you’ll see it either says “Show captions” or “Hide captions.”
Click the button to change it from what it’s set to (off or on).
If you need to turn the captions back on at any time, click the “Captions" button again to change it back.
